Xbox One sells 3 million units in ‘Epic 2013’

Microsoft has revealed the final 2013 sales figures for the Xbox One, with over 3 million units sold and in the hands of consumers during the 6 week period since its launch on 22nd November.

Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing, Strategy and Business made the announcement on the Xbox blog in a message titled ‘Thank You for an Epic 2013.

Together, we ushered in a new era of games and entertainment with Xbox One. Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013.’

The console crossed the 1 million milestone within 24 hours of its global release. Later passing 2 million in mid-December.

As of yet, rivals Sony have not released their own figures for 2013. However with PS4 sales reaching 2.1m at the start of December, it is likely we will hear more from Sony sooner rather than later as each firm continues their attempts to top each other and keep sales momentum going.
