It has been two weeks since Grant Theft Auto V was released and broke sales records the world over, now Rockstar is about to open access to the games incredibly ambitious multiplayer component, GTA Online.
In the UK GTA Online will be available from around 12pm onwards. Do not expect a smooth ride if you try to log in as soon as it goes live however; millions of people will all have the same idea, trying to get a taste of GTA’s first ever online mode.
“One thing we are already aware of, and are trying to alleviate as fast as we can, is the unanticipated additional pressure on the servers due to a significantly higher number of players than we were anticipating at this point,” Rockstar said.
“We are working around the clock to buy and add more servers, but this increased scale is only going to make the first few days even more temperamental than such things usually are.”
The developer also added the online element of GTA will suffer from crashes, glitches and bugs in its infant stages, as they are present in all online titles when first launched. However, Rockstar says they will be working around the clock to smooth out these problems as quickly as possible.
GTA Online is set a few months prior to the events that transpire in the GTA V single player storyline. For an in-depth look into what GTA Online will offer, be sure to check out the video below.
